Applying a Template

Now it is time to use your template page to create a spotlight page for one of the parks.

1. Open a new page. Click on the Assets panel and then click on the templates button (second from the bottom). You should see your spotlight_parks template. Click on the apply button at the bottom of the panel. Save the page as bahia_park (do NOT save this as a template, it is a regular web page!)

2. You will now update the editable regions with the information specific to the state park you are highlighting. Select the [name of state park] and replace it with Bahia Honda State Park.

3. For the description add the following text. Bahia Honda, located on the Big Pine Key, is  unique among other islands in the Keys. The island consists of white sandy coastline and deep, crystal-clear waters for excellent swimming and snorkeling. Other activities include boating, fishing, camping and bird watching.

4. Click in the left cell of the first table and then from the pull down menu select Modify > Table > Insert Rows or Columns. Add two more rows below the current row. Delete the text that is currently in the top left cell.

5. You will now insert images in each of the cells of this table. These images can be found in the project 6 images folder.

6. Move to the second table and remove the text in the left hand cell and replace it with Home. Move to the next cell and key in "Bahia Honda State Park" and link this text to the following URL:
www.floridastateparks.org/bahiahonda/default.asp

7. Save this page and show it to your instructor for teacher check__________

8. Go back to the spotlight_parks.dwt template and remove the background image. Change the background color and the text color for the page. Save the template. Now go back and open up your bahia_park.htm page. Explain what happened and why. Show this page to your instructor for teacher check___________
