One advantage of using the Macromedia MX suite is the
integration of Fireworks and Flash directly into Dreamweaver. This allows
you quick and easy access to the features of flash and fireworks without
working directly with these tools.
Creating and Modifying a Flash Button
1. Open your travel_log.html file that you created in the previous lesson.
Move to the end of the text and hit enter to place the cursor below
the fish graphic in the center of the document.
2. In the Insert panel click on the Media tab and click
on the Flash Button button. The Insert Flash Button dialog box should
appear.
3. Make the following changes:
A. Choose Blue Warper from the style pop-up menu
B. Type Return Home in the Button Text text box.
C. Make the font Verdana with a text size of 12.
4. Use the color picker to make the background color
the same as the document color. The background color code #006699 should
appear in the Bg Color box.
5. In the Save As text box type in home_button.swf and
then click OK. The dialogue box will close and the button appears in
your page.
6. With the button selected click on Play in the property
inspector. Move the cursor over the button to see the rollover state.
Click stop in the Property inspector. Open the browser window to preview
the page and the action of the button.
7. Return to the document window and double click the
button. When the flash button dialogue box opens change the font to
arial 10 point. Click Apply to see the changes and then click OK.
8. Save your page and show it to your instructor for
teacher check.
