Lego Robot

Part 2: Connect to Your Robot

Your app will make use of the bluetooth capability of your tablet and the lego minstorm controller to communicate your commands to the robot. The process of making a bluetooth connection requires that the robot "discover" your tablet and then makes a connection to the tablet.

How does Bluetooth Work?

Turn on your Robot - press the middle button.
Turn off your Robot - press the upper left gray button and then select the check mark.

On your ROBOT:

1. Go to tools > Brick Info and copy down the brick ID:
Write down the Robot Number ________ and the Brick ID____________________________

2. If your robot name is still EV3 change it to EV3_X where X is the number of your robot.

3. Now go to Bluetooth and make sure visibility and bluetooth are both selected.

On your Tablet:

Write down your tablet number:_______________________. You will want to use this same tablet since it will be paired with your robot so be sure you remember your robot number and tablet number.

1. Open your tablet settings and be sure bluetooth is turned on.

2. Select the EV3 by name or by the ID #, whichever is displayed.

Once you click on pairing you will see a code displayed on the robot screen which shows the passcode which should be 1234. Enter this value on your tablet and you should see that the devices are paired. Now you are ready to run your app.
