Review of District Technology Use Agreement
A major emphasis of this course is the impact of technology on society and this exercise is an introduction to the type of analysis that is expected in the ITGS course. Please refer to the News Item Analysis handout (ask your teacher for a hard copy). There are three lenses through which each news item or technology topic should be analyzed - Strand 1: Social and Ethical issues, Strand 2: Applications to Specific Scenarios and Strand 3: IT Systems. The questions that should be considered when looking at the social impact of a specific technology are listed on this handout. One of the important questions is who are the stakeholders, who is directly or indirectly impacted by this technology. Another is how are the stakeholders impacted? What are some possible solutions to these problems?
The other part of strand 1 is the ethical issues related to this technology. Take a look at the ethical questions you should ask when evaluating a topic or technology.
On the flip side of this handout the tasks you should be able to perform are listed. Each strand is addressed and should be related back to the stakeholders and the impacts on them.
You will now use this handout as a guide to analyze a technology issue - here is the news item you will analyze - Seeing is No Longer Believing. Answer the questions in a Google document and submit your answers to School Loop.
ITGS guide - download your copy and then upload it to your Google drive so it will always be available. Take a look at page 9 - The aims of group 3 and specifically the aims of ITGS (this should sound familiar, you just did this in the previous exercise).
Look at page 10 - the assessment
objectives for the course and page 11 - the breakdown of the scoring process for Standard Level.
Page 12 gives you the syllabus outline
and again it refers to the three strands.
Page 15 should look familiar to you.
Throughout the year we will be constantly referring back to this guide.
Now that you have your book please complete the Chapter 1 Intro.
