Web Design is a great course where students
can immediately apply what they are learning in class. New concepts
are discussed and demonstrated in class and then students create new
web pages that incorporate the new techniques discussed. In the first
semester of the course the focus will be on the language of the web
- XHTML. Once students have mastered this language they will then be
introduced to Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Flash and Fireworks. Students
will also learn about JavaScript, Frames and Cascading Style Sheets.
The following links will provide you with
more information regarding the course.
Course
Syllabus - This will provide you with the basic information about
the class
Grades
- You may view your student's grade at any time from this web site.
Click on the grades button and then enter your student's last name and
then their student number. If you do not know their student number ask
your student, they will know it. If students fall behind they must come
in before school (I usually arrive by 7:30 am), during lunch or after
school to catch up. Making up assignments is not a problem but students
must come into the lab to make up the work.
Attendance
- Attendance is one of the main factors affecting a student's grade
in this class. You may check your student's attendance at any time using
the district's web site. You will need to register at the district site in order to check you student's attendance.
Books - Please browse through the HTML 4
books that are available to get a feel for the type of material we cover
in the course.
Calendar - The calendar will also give
you and idea of the type of things that we do in class. We typically
spend one day a week in the lab putting into practice what has been
learned in the classroom. If students forget what the homework was for
the class they can always check the web site.
