In this exercise you will make the map of the Sequoia
campus interactive. As an alternative to this exercise you can download
your own picture of a car, tool, animal... and make it interactive in
the same way. You will need more pictures of the item you choose so
be carefull what topic you pick. This may be a page you decide to use
on your personal web site.
1. Open your dreamweaver site and create a new folder called exercises.
Create a new web page called sequoia_campus and save it in this folder.
2. Here is the link to the map
of Sequoia High School. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save
the campus picture to your exercises folder as campus_map.jpeg
3. Create at least five hotspots in the map and link
those hotspots to actual photos of those locations. Each photo should
appear in a separate page with a short description about the photo or
that part of the school. Use photos that you already have or use the
cameras to capture and save new photos of the campus.
4. Make a flash text title for each page (Insert >
Interactive Image > Flash Text) . If you place your flash text into
one drawing you can quickly copy this same text into your other pages
and then edit the text to match the page. This will save you the time
used to create each heading from scratch.
5. Be sure each hotspot and photo has appropriate alt
text. Make all of the photos the same size and give each photo a border.
This will give your pages a consistent look.
6. Save your pages and show the map to your insturctor
for teacher check.
