Build Your Own PC at Sequoia

Those who only know how work for those who know why.

Want to build your own computer from scratch? Here is your chance. Sequoia High School has over 500 computers on campus and some of these systems have been replaced by newer systems or have been discarded because of major problems. This means that there are many computer parts that are available from these discarded computers. Computer cases, hard drives, floppy drives, CD ROMs, motherboards, video cards and the list goes on. These parts are available to students who wish to build their own PC here at school. Once the project is completed then the computer is yours to take home.

Program Requirements:
1. You must currently be a student in the Business/IT program at Sequoia High School
2. You must be attending class regularly and have a C or better in your Business/IT course.
3. You are responsible for the safe handling of all equipment and tools and for clean up.
4. All work on the system must be done at Sequoia. Only when the project is completed will the computer go home.
5. Computer memory may not be available and will probably have to be purchased by the student although memory can be loaned out during the build process.
6. Students who are building their own systems are encouraged to take the A+ exam and become A+ certified.

Software:
Sequoia High School is a member of the Microsoft Software Development Network Academic Aliance progam that allows students to obtain any Microsoft operating system software to install on their home computer for free. This includes the computers built through this program. If you are interested in obtaining this software see your instructor.
