A friend just upgraded her PC and has given me a Western
Digital Caviar 120 GB IDE hard drive that she will no longer need. The
problem is that the sticker showing the correct jumper settings was
scraped off when the HD was removed from the system so I do not know
how to set the jumper settings for the drive. Can you help? I already
have one drive in my system which is drive C:.
1. What web site should I go to in order to find the information I need?
2. Once you get to the web site what area should you go to?
3. Draw a diagram to show the proper jumper setting for the used hard
drive I will be installing and label what this drive becomes. The jumper
area has 10 pins.
4. Assume the hard drive already in my system is also a Western Digital
hard drive. Will I have to make any changes to the jumper settings for
this drive? Draw a diagram of the correct jumper setting and label what
this drive becomes.
5. What will be the drive letter for the newly installed drive?
6. Show your instructor the web site and your answer sheet.
Thanks for helping me set up my new hard drive.
