Values Scenario

Following graduation from college, Ana is looking for a job that will lead to a career in biotechnology research. There is a high demand for this position and the field is growing rapidly. Ana wants to work closely with others and find cures that can defeat the most deadliest diseases.

Ana has decided that she would like to work a couple of years before going back to grad school. She interviewed for several positions and now has two job offers. The first is an entry-level researcher for a medical journal, requiring her to check facts and create article ideas. The other job offer was as an assistant manager at an electronics store where she worked while attending college.

If Ana accepts the first job with the medical journal, she would work normal office hours (9-5) and her pay will be low. She will receive credit for her work on the journal and, occasionally, will work with the editor in chief.

If she accepts the electronics store position her work schedule will vary and will include evenings and weekends. Her salary for this position will be higher than for the medical journal position. She will assist customers and in the process learn more about technology which may help in her future career.
