Creating a Personalized
Title Block
The skills you are learning are very valuable and can be used to start your own business. Many small companies and independent contractors are looking for someone to produce electronic drawings for their business and they are willing to pay for these services. So what will you name your business? What will your professional title block look like and how will it sell your company? What will your logo be? How does your logo fit into the name of your company?
Create a personalized title block (prototype drawing) that reflects the above ideas. Since you are printing on 11” X 8.5” paper your limits should be set accordingly. (keep in mind the limitations of color when printing on this size paper.) Your actual drawing area should not exceed that used in your ProA drawing. Your title block must include:
Company name
Author of the drawing
The drawing name
Date
Scale
Drawing NumberNotes
Organize this information in an attractive manner. Inside your title block write a slogan for your company and a quick sales pitch. Also list inside your title block the layers you developed and give an example of each of the linetypes you decided to use. Create your own textstyle.
Create another personalized title block but this time you will make the limits 17” X 11”. The actual drawing size will be half an inch smaller than the actual paper size. Since this title block will be printed on the large format color printer your use of colors will be important. Remember that the light colors do not show up as well as the darker colors. Once again be creative.
Your drawings will be graded on the skills that you demonstrate in its construction, the amount of detail included and the precision with which the drawing is made. The greater the detail and the more complicated the design the higher the score. Creativity is a plus.
