Placing Doors and Windows in your
          House Drawing

        Windows
The one rule for all windows that you need to remember is that the top
of the window and sill (the frame around the window) must match the
top of the door and sill. In most cases that value will be 6’8”.
Change the value of the floor to the top of the window to 6’8”
so it will be a standard window.
When you place windows there are two methods to place them, from the
center of the window, or from the edge of the window. Windows are typically
placed from the center of the window but either method will work. Now
place your windows on your floor plan.
        Doors
          Typical Door Sizes
          Interior Doors 2’-6”
          Front Entrance 3’-0”
          Other Entrances 2’-8”
Open the Doors Setting window. Select a door and then notice that in
the Parameters window there is an option that says Door Panel. If you
select this line there is an option window that pops up allowing you
to choose the style of door panel for each door. As you change the style
you should be able to see these changes in the prieview window. Choose
a style that fits your tastes and then insert your doors. One thing
to keep in mind when installing doors is that most doors swing into
a room. Also remember that the space behind a door is typically wasted
space because no furniture can be placed there because of the swing.
        Adding a Second Floor
If your house has a second floor go ahead and add it now using the stories
dialogue window. The thickness of the second floor (the actual first
floor ceiling and second floor surface) is typically 1 ft. So your second
story will begin at 9ft. If you cut and paste the walls from the first
floor to the second floor be sure not to copy the slab.
        Printing Your Floor Plan
Label each room and indicate the rough size of each room (10’
X 12’). Add an appropriate title block. Dimension the floor plan,
including doors, windows and rooms. Remember to place the short dimensions
closest to the floor plan and the overall dimension farthest away. Be
sure all dimensions are lined up. Once your rooms are labeled and the
floor plan is dimensioned plot the floor plan to a suitable scale, probably
          1/8” or 1/16” to 1’ scale.
