ArchiCAD ShortCut Keys

 


This page provides a quick reference to short cut keys and some other hints as well

Editing Modes
Wall Tool - All commands assume you are in the wall tool.
Ctrl Key to cut a wall (cursor turns into scissors)
Edit - Adjust to shorten or stretch a wall to another object.

to select an item while in the tool used to create that item..

Slab Tool Pet Box s to ortho mode.

 

 

2D and 3D Control:

F2 = 2D Floor Plan

F3 = 3D View

Ctrl + F5 = Show ALL in 3D View

F5 - Show Selection/Marquee in 3D View

Changing 3D View Settings:

View > 3D View Mode > 3D Perspective Settings

Shift + Click places the viewpoint <

Alt + Click placed the target, what you are looking at.

Saving Views - when you begin working on the kitchen you may want to save a particular 3D view, here is how.
Open the Navigator Palette and click on the Save Current View button at the bottom of this window (roll your cursor over each button till you find the Save Current View button).


Copying properties from one object to another:

Move the cursor over the object you want to copy the settings from until the check mark appears. Then press the Alt key, the cursor will turn into a syringe.

Move the cursor over the object to which you want to apply the settings and press the Ctr + Alt keys. This will apply the settings to the object.


Trimming Objects with the scissors tool

With the selection tool press the Ctrl key and the cursor will turn into scissors. Once you move to a trimmable object the scissors will turn black, click the object to cut it. If you make a mistake click the undo key or press Ctrl + Z.

 

Stories:

Ctrl 7 = Stories Dialogue box,

Ctrl 6 up one story

Ctrl 5 down one story

Ctrl 4 go to story

Ctrl 8 show ghost story


Snap and Grid:

Shift F8 – pulls up the Snap and Grid dialogue box

F8 – toggles grid on and off

To load the ArchiCAD library go to File > Library Manager and then search for the ArchiCAD library, it should be on the D: drive. Click add and then done. You should now be able to access the parts found in this library.

 

 

Window Terminology:
Transom - top section of a window
Sash - movable portion of a window
Casement - vertically hinged windows, where the hinge is located.

Curtain walls can have a sloped top plate, they don't have to be rectangular. Also see page 292
