Today we continue with our Career Research Project.

Career Research Project Part 4 - Career Details Part 2 - A career related to this class.

Last week you researched your chosen career. Today you will do the same thing but this time the career must be related to this class. Here are some ideas of careers related to this class. Once you decide on a related career you will research this career in depth. One of the best locations to find this information is the Occupational Outlook Handbook. This is a great resource with a lot of useful information regarding careers.

For the career you are planning on pursing after high school, use the Occupational Outlook Handbook to find the following information. Copy the information and use this Google Document template (make a copy of this document) to save your answers. Submit the document to Google classroom once you are finished. Please see the note at the end of this page about what to include. The easiest way to find your career is to click on the A-Z Index which list careers alphabetically.

Since you are copying this information go through and highlight the important points made in the information provided. See the sample at the end of this page.

   Job Outlook for High School Teachers

   Employment of high school teachers is projected to grow 4 percent from 2018 to 2028, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Rising student enrollment should increase demand for high school teachers, but employment growth will vary by region.

   Employment growth for public high school teachers may depend on state and local government budgets. If state and local governments experience budget deficits, school boards may lay off employees, including teachers. As a result, employment growth of high school teachers may be reduced by state and local government budget deficits. Conversely, budget surpluses at the state and local level could lead to additional employment growth for high school teachers.

   Job Prospects

   Many teachers will be needed to replace those who retire or who leave the occupation for other reasons.

   Many schools report that they have difficulty filling teaching positions for certain subjects, including math, science, English as a second language, and special education. As a result, teachers who specialize in these subjects should have the best job prospects.
