Career Research Project Part 3 - Wages and Lifestyle
Spreadsheet afor this activity, make a copy of this and complete ALL four tabs.
Last week you researched salary information for jobs you were interested in. Today you will take a look at what those wages will provide for you. Answer the following questions regarding your chosen career.
1. Take a look a typical household budget. How might the budget of someone living in the Bay Area be different from this typical budget?
2. List your top three careers along with the starting and top salaries (copy from Part 2 completed last week).
3. Does your career offer a career ladder where you can move up to better paying positions as you gain more experience? Describe those steps or positions that would lead to better income.
4. If your starting salary is not high enough to support your preferred lifestyle what are some things you can do to supplement your income?
Go to Google Classroom and open the Personal Budget based on Career Salary spreadsheet. Use the values you provided for question #1 to fill in each worksheet. When you fill in the salary the spreadsheet will calculate your budget.

5. Describe the rental that you found (studio apt., 1 bedroom apt. .... ) and the monthly rent for this unit.
6. Does your proposed career provide enough to cover this rent with the current budget?
7. Suppose your proposed career did not provide enough to cover your rent, how might you modify your budget to make the rent affordable?
8. Summarize what you learned from this activity.
Submit a copy of your complete spreadsheet with answers to Google Classroom.
