Project 17 -
Foley Affects
• Shoot an action scene that involves several sounds (remember your chase scenes) - being chased down the stairs, jumping over something, slamming a door shut....
• Place the unedited shot at the begriming of your project and title it - Unedited Sound.
• Place the same shot in the timeline next but this time add several sound effects to enhance the scene and what takes place, title this - Foley Affects.
• Duplicate the shot with the sound effects and this time add music the heighten the impact of the shot, title this - Digitally Mastered.
• If you have time repeat this process on the same clip but this time add sounds that make the scene seem funny and music does the same, label this Sound Parody
• You must credit your source of sound effects in your closing credits.
Project 18
Voice Over
• Record a discussion between a guy and a girl, it should follow some kind of story line, maybe a breakup or a first date discussion. The discussion should be a minimum of 30 seconds (no shorter) so time it to make sure you have enough dialogue. Also be sure both actors are speaking about the same amount of time. Having a script would help. If you want to use a dialogue from you English class that would be fine.
• The discussion must be mic'd since the sound is going to be very important. Use either a boom or lavaliere mic.
• In the same location where you shot the discussion repeat the shot with no one talking, at this point you just want to record the background noise of the room and surroundings for 30 seconds. No one should be talking or moving.
Editing
• Place the clip at the beginning of your movie.
• Add 3 seconds of black at the end of the shot with a title of Voiceover and then repeat the original shot.
• Remove the original sound from this copy of the original shot.
• Now each person who spoke in the original clip will do a voiceover of the other actor. This will require playing the clip so you can watch the lips of the speaker and then recording your voice in place of theirs using Garage Band. Try to lip synch as best as you can but don't attempt to adjust your voice.
• Export your voiceover as an MP3 file and save it as your name.
• Add the voiceovers to the second clip in place of the original dialogue. Zoom in so you can get the timing just right.
• Add your closing credits being sure to include Voiceovers by...
