First Shots Project - Sequoia Campus

The purpose of this project is to expose you to the use of the Canon t6i camera and get you started shooting your first video. The focus of this first project is the Sequoia Campus but your team will decide what the theme will be. Once your group has decided on a theme each person should shoot one subject that fits in your theme. Once you return to class your group will present your shots and each person will explain why they chose that view of their subject.

Since you will be working in a group each person will be responsible for a specific task that the group must complete. Decide who will perform each task. If you do not have four people in your group then you may have to perform more than one task.

Producer: - responsible for recording the information about your group in Google Classoom. Keep the group together while out of the classroom and be sure all rules are followed.
Director: - complete the pass for the group. Be sure each student gets a chance to shoot their own shots in the sequence you decided as a group.
Videographer: - check out/in the camera and be sure it is working properly. Assist other students with their shots.
Promoter: - keep track of the time and remind students of how much time they have left. You must return before the time listed on the pass. When you return introduce your video to the class and answer questions about it.

Here are the specs for the project:

- each person should shoot 5-10 seconds of video of their subject. The length of your shot will depend on how long it takes for your audience to understand what the shot is about. Shoot your subjects in the order you want to present them, you will not be editing the video.

- If you have time repeat this process for a second theme or a second video with the same theme but different shots. This will allow each person to have two shots.

The Planning Process - before you leave to start shooting

1. Decide what your theme will be - the producer will record this in Google Classoom

2. List the names of the people in your group and what subject they will shoot.

3. List where you will be on campus, if you will be moving list the places in order.

The Shooting Process.

1. The videographer will check out the camera - you must sign it out.

2. Shoot your shots in the order you decided with each person taking their turn.

3. Return to class before the time your instructor indicated on the pass.

4. Be prepared to tell what part of the video you shot and why you shot it the way you did.

Presentations

1. You will show your video to the class twice, the first time with no talking. The class will decide what your theme was.

2. The second time you show your video each person will talk about why they chose to shoot their subject the way they did.

3. The class will then provide feedback on what could be done to improve your shots or theme presentation.
