Now that you have learned many shooting and editing skills it is time to put those skills to use for someone else. Your semester project will be a video that you are producing for someone else, perhaps a teacher, your family, a business, a club, your mentor.... Step one is to find a client who needs a video produced for them. Ask them to describe the purpose of the video and what they want in it. Continue to communicate with your client as the work progresses.
This is a project that you are to work on continually as the semester progresses. You will develop your storyline, obtain the clips and produce a movie.
Here are the specs for the project:
______ All video must be an original work produced by you
______ The finished movie must have a title and closing credits
______ The movie must be 3-5 minutes long.
This project should demonstrate the following:
______ Clear purpose/story - every shot and scene adds to the development of the message/story
______ Quality Editing - edits are smooth and seamless. Edits are tight - mistakes are removed. Creative use of effects to add to the engagement of the audience.
______ Camera Use - follows the rule of thirds, 180 rule and uses a variety of angles and movement.
______ Sound Quality - sound is high quality and sound errors are removed or corrected. Background music adds to storyline. Voiceovers are used when needed with room tone. Music is properly credited.
______ Lighting and color - shots are not over or under exposed, color is adjusted or enhanced as needed.
______
Overall quality and impact - should be effective in fulfilling the purpose of the video and impact the viewer.
Your project video might be one of the following but whatever the project is must receive teacher approval before you start:
a recruitment video for a club
an EA Academy Senior tribute
for the EA graduation
a tribute to your academy teachers
a family video of a special event or person
a training video for a class or teacher
a demonstration video for a business
a commercial for a business
other.....
Each person will need to submit the following:
________ A one minute sales pitch for the project
