1. Meet with your group to decide on the ONE action you will shoot using three cameras so you will have three different angles of the same simultaneous action. ONE action shot means jumping over a table or leaping over a wall, it is just ONE action viewed from three different camera angles. Your shot should be pure action, remember one shot.
2. Decide what three angles you will shoot for this one action.
3.
Setup your cameras to capture the three angles you chose.
4. When ready start all three cameras and then clap the clapboard
once and record the action.
5. Repeat the action two more times (you want three takes of the same action).
Create a shared folder and upload the clips to this folder so they are available to everyone in your group. Be sure to label EACH clip with which camera was used, camera 1, camera 2, camera 3.
For this exercise only use the clips from ONE take - choose which take was the best and use all three angles from that one take.
Upload the three clips to a new event called FCP Multicam edits.
Create a new project called FCP Multicam edits.
Follow the directions from the following Lynda.com video, watch the first video of Chapter 8 Multicam Editing. Once you have your multicam clip setup show the three screens to your instructor for teacher check. Getting to this point is worth 10 points so be sure to show your multicam clip to your instructor.
Watch the next two videos of Chapter 8 Multicam Editing. Use this new method to create a multicam video. Fine tune the edits so the action is seamless.
Turn in Multicam Edit 2 to google classroom
- A title - Multicam Project - Single Action
- Seamlessly edit the action so the action flows smoothly
- Closing credits.
- Each project must have music that adds to the suspense of the scene. The music should be edited so it is in beat with the movie. The selected music cannot violate any school policies.
- Add sound effects to enhance the action of the scene.
Be sure to show me at least three clips that have been synchronized - show all angles in the viewer. If you don't know how to show the angles then watch the video again - Chapter 8 Multicam Editing.
What are the requirements for the multi-cam editing to work? What are some strategies for using this technique? When is it appropriate?
