Color correction is a common post production task and a valuable skill that can make your video look really sharp. Watch the Basic Color Correction videos and answer the following questions.

Color grading to add style

Your Turn - Color Correction Video Project

1. Take a clip you already have and copy it four times. (10 seconds max)
2. Label the first clip Normal - no changes should be made to this clip.

3. Label the second clip Exposure Adjusted - use the exposure correction tools of FCP to enhance the brightest and darkest parts of the image.
4. Label the third clip Color Adjustment - use the color correction tools of FCP to enhance the color to make the colors more vibrant, making the grass and trees greener and the sky bluer.

5. Label the fourth clip Saturation Adjustment - use the saturation correction tools of FCP to enhance the color saturation and make the flesh tones more natural.
6. Label the last clip Color Grading - use all of the tools you have learned to create your own color style. In the label indicate the goal of the style you created.

Specs

  1. Your video will have 5 seconds of black at the start of the movie.
  2. A title should appear within the first five seconds and last 3 seconds.
  3. Be sure each clip is labeled.
  4. Five seconds of black must be at the end of the movie with closing credits.
  5. Each project must have music that fades in at the start and fades out at the end of the movie.
