Open the ITGS folder and right click inside this folder and select New > Text Document. Rename the document More News and then open it and type in your name.
2. Move back to My Documents. Move your cursor just to the right of the Help menu in this window and right click. Be sure Standard Buttons is selected (should be a check mark next to it) Click on the Folders button at the top of the window. What happens?
3. What does the plus next to the All My Files folder indicate? Expand your file structure so all levels can be seen.
4. Click on the All My Files folder in the left hand panel of this window. Click on the Views button (right next to the folders button) in this window. What are your five options for views? Choose two of these views and give an instance when that view would be the most appropriate to use.
5. Select the Detailed View. What columns are listed in your view window?
6. Double click on the last column heading, what happens? (if you are not sure what happens double click again.) When would this view be useful?
7. Even if you are very organized occasionally files get lost. Use the search feature (right next to the folders button) to find the following file: apphelp.dll Write down the complete path for this file (the path to the file should be displayed in the address bar of the window. If the address bar is not visible right click on the menu bar and select it).
8. Not only did you forget where you saved your file but you also forgot what you named it. Give two search methods that would help you find this file even when you forgot the name.
9. Organization is a key skill when you deal with lots of information. Think about where and how you store your files. Do you have lots of folders to aid in your organization or are all of your files just thrown into one folder? What about your communicado account, is it organized?
Rate your level of organization (on a scale of 1-10, 1 being poor) and indicate if this has been a problem for you.
10. Show your questions and file system (the fully expanded view) to your instructor for teacher check.
