ITGS Project - Complexity Requirement
ITGS Project Home Page
Here is IB's response to the following question regarding complexity:
Does the use of Lightbox Clearbox in a web site constitute a "complex task". Here are the steps the student outlined and documented:
1. Download the widget and add to Dreamweaver
2. Adjust image sizes to create thumbnail images in Photoshop
3. Linking the thumbnail image to the full size image in Dreamweaver
4. Going into the HTML code to add comments, title, and alt text for each image.
Seems as if each step would not be complex but when combined this would seem to qualify as a complex task.
If it does qualify under which category would it fit? Manipulation of HTML code?
Answer:
There are two ways of achieving complexity:
1. the technique used can be regarded as complex or
2. the technique consists of a sequence of steps whereby each step may not be complex, but the process and/or outcome can be regarded as complex. (Your example is aligned with this situation.)
The biggest concern in your posting is the use of words "outlined and documented". It is really important that by "documented", the student actually addresses the command terms and requirements in criterion E.
Many students do not pay enough attention to words such as "explain" and "justify". Often screenshots are too small and not well labelled. In some instances is not clear what part of the screenshot relates to the accompanying text or to the complex technique that is being presented.
