Intro to Robotics Lab

Work with a partner to complete the following lab.

1. Check out a robot from your instructor. Robot number _________

2. Check to see if your computer already has the Lego Mindstorm EV3 software installed. If so open the program. If not then download and install the software, when asked for the admin password check with your instructor.

3. Watch the first video titled CREATE YOUR FIRST PROGRAM ON YOUR PC/MAC . Once you have the robot connected with the USB cable see what ports your motors are attached to. This will be important for the next steps.

4. Go to the Bluetooth Connection page and follow the directions to connect to your robot using bluetooth. Once you are finished demonstrate for teacher check by running your first program.

5. Now watch the next video on how to make your robot move. Write a program to make the robot move in a 2-3 ft square so it ends up back where it started. Save this program as Square and demonstrate your program for teacher check.

6. Create another program which makes your robot play a tune. Extra credit if I can recognize the tune. Save the program as Song and demonstrate for teacher check.

7. Create your own program for controlling your robot and demonstrate for teacher check. Can you make your robot dance?

8. Your robot should have a touch sensor on the front of it. See if you can program your robot to move forward until the touch sensor is activated and when it is the robot should reverse and then turn to move in another direction.

8. Now time to have your robot follow a trail. Use the following video to program your robot to follow the line on the desk setup.
